Asus Eee PC 1215P

Asus is confident about its netbook products and says you can ‘Go anywhere in style with the Eee PC 1215P Seashell’.

Giving the 1215P a thorough look we’re inclined to agree with Asus’ statement because this Eee PC is quite stylish. The superb burgundy and glossy black finish make the Asus a sharp looker and we’re happy to report that the machine’s black surfaces are resistant to smudges.

The keyboard exhibits a little flex when pressed, though the trackpad works flawlessly. Its combination left/right button works brilliantly too with very little dead space in the center.

The 12.1-inch LCD screen is the largest in this grouptest and it too is a decent performer. It offers wide viewing angles, can summon up incredibly vibrant colours, though it isn’t able to generate deep blacks – there’s a fairly obvious gray tinge that was visible to most people. The screen also packs the highest resolution in this test at 1,366 x 768 pixels, which means it offers the greatest amount of screen real estate to work with.

As a consequence of its larger size however the 1215P is heavy, weighing 1.488kg – the heaviest in this round-up. That said this netbook is far from heavy and offering an incredible five hours and 54 minutes of battery life, you’ll be able to work long after you’ve left your home or office. It offers decent application punch too.
