Bin Obood: Excited by 4G technology.
Etisalat will be looking to raise awareness of its new LTE, or 4G, mobile telecommunications network this week.
The network will support speeds of 100 MB/s, more than double current 3G speeds, allowing users to watch high definition movies, make video calls and play online multiplayer games whilst on the move.
“Advanced telecommunications are a key basis for a developed society, and this 4G network can contribute to developing various sectors including education, finance, healthcare as well as the economic and business sectors, the latter of which will be a direct beneficiary of 4G,” says Nasser Bin Obood, Acting CEO, Etisalat.
The operator says the launch makes the UAE one of the first countries in the world to have a commercial 4G service. At launch, more than 700 base stations are operational and “all key areas of the UAE” are covered.
