Apple has started production of the iPad 3, according to sources quoted by Bloomberg.
The news agency said that three unnamed people had all confirmed that production has begun on the new tablet, ahead of a likely launch date in March.
Foxconn factories have begun ramping up production, to reach full volume by next month.
Sources suggest that the next generation of iPad will be significantly slimmer than the iPad 2, while packing in a high definition screen and LTE compatibility. The device is also expected to be powered by a quad-core A6 chip, which will allow for better use of multiple applications at once.
Apple has not confirmed any of the rumours.
