NEC's Quovio TCM380 can run in virtual or centralied environments.

NEC computers is extending its range of mobile thin client devices, with the launch of the Quovio TCM380.

The TCM380 is intended to provide a high specification mobile client, that complements NEC’s existing desktop and portable thin client devices.

Mobile thin clients are intended to give users the flexibility of being mobile, while keeping the simplicity, security and low power consumption of a thin client.

The TCM380 runs on Windows XP embedded, using the VPN1 client, to operate in either a centralised or virtualised environment. It includes 802.11b/g/n wireless and optional 3G/GPRS connectivity, a 15.4 inch screen and integrated chip card reader. The battery provides up to eight hours of operating time.

“We are convinced that the Quovio TCM380 will perfectly satisfy mobile users with its excellent autonomy, its comfort in use and its high security in the event of software attacks or the loss or theft of the portable thin client,” said Marion Gravot, Thin Client Manager at NEC Computers.
